The NIT Tournament also known as the National Invitation Tournament is played at the end of the NCAA College Basketball season. Although the tournament structure is the same as the March Madness Bracket it is only made up of 32 teams. The teams invited to play in the NIT tournament failed to qualify for the March Madness tournament.

The tournament is made up of 4 regions, with 8 teams in each region seeded 1 to 8. The tournament is a total of 5 rounds, with the championship game being in the 5th and final round.
